Matthew Offord

Following yesterday's events in central London, Matthew said: "This shows us that sadly the threat of terrorism is never far away.

"It is utterly tragic and horrific that people have once again lost their lives when they were simply doing nothing more than going about their everyday lives.

"We all remain grateful to the work of the police and the security services in keeping us safe and also acknowledge the brave members of the public who took action against the individual.

"People who perpetrate terrorist acts cannot win as the strength of the British people will always overcome the fear of terrorism.

"Whilst we should, of course, all remain vigilant our thoughts at the moment are with the family and friends of those who have lost their lives."

As Parliament has now dissolved, I want to say that it has been the honour of my life to serve as your Member of Parliament for the last 14 years. I thank my constituents in Hendon for electing me on four occasions.
