Matthew has written to Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, expressing his concerns about the effect of the proposed extension of the Ultra-Low Emission Zone (ULEZ).
In a joint letter with Jon Cruddas, Labour MP for Dagenham and Rainham, the MPs warned that the expansion of the ULEZ across Greater London will have a detrimental effect on small businesses in their constituencies.
Instead, Matthew and Jon asked the Mayor to consider a call from the Federation for Small Businesses for a “no charge” period for the first year of the so-called “GL-Ulez”.
Matthew said: "Although I am no fan of the Mayor of London, this goes beyond party politics and is about protecting small businesses at a time when energy costs are rising.
"That is why Jon Cruddas and I have come together across party lines to call on the Mayor to delay his disastrous ULEZ expansion."
